Sands Point Preserve is the place for easy hiking trails. One can easily enjoy nature for 2 to 3 hours in the most friendly environment. Very easy access to Long Island sound and two castles provides amazing photo opportunities. They charge $15 per vehicle. I would visit again in spring to explore the entire area. Restrooms are clean and dog park along with children playground is a bonus.
Very easy walking trails with great views of the water. I would highly recommend going on a 60-65° day with a light sweater.
Plenty of people were walking around with their dogs. You are able to get down to the water but also will have views from the hiking trails above.
Kid friendly, for sure!
Sands Point Preserve is a great place to go with your family for a nice, leisurely walk. There are many paths you can take and are not too long. Castle Gould is iconic and the first thing you will see when you drive up to the grass parking lot. Take a mat and have a picnic on a cool breezy day. A wonderful beach but you cannot go swimming in it. The playground is state of the art and even has a zip line which is just so cool. The only thing not cool about this place is the $15 admission fee but they have Apple Pay so it’s not like you need cash.
Great place to visit (paid entrance USD 15 per car) with family and dogs. Interesting historic buildings, lovely open spaces and good trails around the property. There is also a beach access point on the other side of the lake. Make sure to bring food because there is no food stall. There is also a large area for small kids that is fenced in beside the learning center building.
Well kept grounds with trails to the beach and through the woods. None of the buildings were open to the public as of May 2022. $15/car. There’s a really nice playground for kids too! Picnic tables and benches sprinkled throughout the property.
