Nicholas DeBellis M.D. - Injury Orthopedist

As an RN with 35+ yrs experience, I Highly recommend Dr. DeBellis as an orthopedic surgeon. He is knowledgeable and skilled in performing many newer orthopedic treatments and procedures. And not only is he competent but his professionalism, bedside manner and follow-up care with all his patients is truly one of a kind.
I was referred to Dr DeBellis by another orthopedic MD after suffering for 8 months with debilitating knee pain from a stress fracture . It took 1 visit with Dr DeBellis to completely change my course of treatment . I underwent a relatively new procedure (Subchondralplasty) Improvement was almost immediate. 6 weeks later I have fully restored function of my knee. I am back to work-able to run again and most importantly pain-free! Thank you DrDeBellis for giving me back my life !

My first impression of Dr. DeBellis was a pretty darn good one. I don’t know if it was the way he balanced friendliness and professionalism. It could have been the way he chose to take the higher ground when he explained why my previous surgery didn’t work. It could also have been the way his staff, especially the medical assistant, Makeda, impressively handled my being unprepared for my first visit.

I forgot to bring my medical records that included the imaging and postoperative notes by the other surgeon. I was terrified that I would have to reschedule but they asked if I could just have it faxed over so that I could still be seen. I was so worried that the doctor and/or his assistants would be annoyed with me. Instead, I was met with smiling faces and was given constant reassurances every time I apologized for having inconvenienced & delayed them.

While we waited for my records, Dr. DeBellis introduced himself and asked me some questions regarding my MVA related injury. He then told me that he knew what was happening before he even had my records in his hands but just to make sure, he wrote a referral for an MRI for confirmation.

I left the office feeling content and happy that I found a doctor that I completely trusted right from the start.

On my next appointment, we discussed the results of the imaging and the plan on how he can help me with my shoulder pain. I needed surgery just as he suspected and since pain medication and physical therapy only provided temporary relief, I couldn’t help but agree.

On the morning of my surgery, Dr. DeBellis came to talk to me as I was being prepped. He described the procedure so I would know what is being done, along with possible scenarios that may change the course once he’s able to get a good look at what’s happening with my shoulder. I really loved how he confidently & reassuringly told me not to worry, that I was in good hands and that he will take care of me. When I woke up, Dr. DeBellis came to update me on what happened in the OR while I “napped.” He told me everything went according to plan.

Unlike my last shoulder surgery, I left the surgical center knowing when I was going to see him for my first post-op appointment. The next day, I was surprised by a phone call from Dr. DeBellis to ask how I was doing. If you have read my other reviews, then you know I can get really verbose. (Sorry everyone!) I know doctors are very busy yet I never ever feel rushed by this doctor. Not even during that phone call!

Doctor DeBellis makes me feel like I’m his only patient! He answers my questions and listens to what I have to say without making me feel rushed. I have never seen any signs of annoyance or frustration on his face and his demeanor.

If you are looking for an Orthopedic Surgeon, you will not regret choosing Dr. DeBellis. I am very fortunate to have him as my doctor. He’s exactly what I picture what a good doctor should be. He’s patient with his patient. (Ha!) From my perspective, he’s attentive and a good listener. I dislike doctors and really, all people in general, who glosses over the issues you’re presenting to them and give you a general answer that might mask the fact that they didn’t really answer the question and may not have been listening after all. He knows how to empathize with his patient’s pain and he addresses all of my concerns. He’s also funny and not bad to look at too! (Doctor D, if you’re reading this, you owe me a dollar. - jk of course.) But seriously, make an appointment to see this doctor. He’s amazing!

My Doctor Dr Debellis is such a great doctor he cares about his patients after I had my surgery I was in so much pain he called me to check on me not only is he a wonderful Doctor he is also A very Good looking Man I will refer him and his office. Thank You Dr D with you're fine self...
