Customer service is generally a thankless task at the best of times. One can only imagine how it is to be phoebe cates doing customer service and putting up with gawking, gormless custys who 90% probably aren't in her store to buy anything. I did go to see phoebe but I had the respect to make a reasonable purchase. She's really cool, but she's there to do a job at the end of the day and that job is not to have her time wasted :-)

My husband and I like to go in when we’re in NYC. We’ve been there several times, buying stemless champagne flutes, beautiful Nima Oberoi items, and assorted other things for our home. We’ve found staff to be helpful, especially offering to ship our purchases and help procure items we’ve wanted. I haven’t experienced being watched or followed around, or rudeness. We’ve always had a nice experience with every visit.
